Jonny grew up in the countryside a few miles outside of Magherafelt, he went to school at the Rainey and went to the Methodist Church in the town. After leaving school he studied actuarial science and risk management at QUB. It was there that he really began to appreciate what it meant to have a relationship with God. Jonny lived in Derryvolgie Hall along with about 80 other Christians and soon made friends who helped him learn more about God and encouraged him in his faith. After studying at Queen’s for 4 years, including a year-long placement on the Isle of Man, Jonny returned to Northern Ireland and interned with Scripture Union Northern Ireland for a year, where he was given the opportunity to work in schools all across the country to deliver assemblies, RE lessons and SU groups. By the end of the year Jonny had developed a real passion for youth ministry and believes God was calling him to youth ministry on a more permanent basis.
